Outmoded Laws and Progressive Revelation

People are challenged by laws from previous dispensations that today seem outdated or even draconian.
Each dispensation focused on the concerns of priority importance at that stage of history, leaving other desirable advances to be dealt with in future Revelations.
At the states of social development at which all of the major faiths came into existence, scriptural guidance sought primarily to civilize, to the extent possible, relationships resulting from intractable historical circumstances.
